Jason scott steps down as tamworth phoenix head coach

Updated: Nov 17, 2022

After 5 years as Head Coach of the Nix Jason Scott steps down.

Today we are announcing that Jason Scott has decided to step away for the time being to focus on his other commitments such as to the national program and his family.

The whole Phamily are grateful for everything Jason has done in his time with the club and wish him every success for the future.

The committee are in the process of recruiting the next Head Coach of the team and welcome people to get in touch should they wish to be considered for a role with the team.

President Elliot Walters had this to say about Jason’s tenure:

“I want to start by saying a massive thank you to Jason for everything he has done for Tamworth Phoenix over the past decade plus. He's been an ever present force behind so much of the success that the club's senior team has had, and him stepping away will truly feel like the end of an era for the club.

I've had the pleasure and fortune to have been coached by Jason since joining the Nix back in 2015, and as the teams Head Coach for the past 5 years. It's obviously sad to see him go, but, as quite possibly the hardest working coach in Britball, as well as having a young family, I completely understand that the time is right for him to step back.

As a committee we are now focusing on finding the right candidate to take the team forward in a new era for the Nix, to ensure we continue to provide the highest quality coaching and culture, and to continue to strive to bring the Britbowl trophy back to the Nix.”

Jason has also shared his thoughts on his time with the Nix:

“I'm hugely proud of my time at the Phoenix; from being part of the first coaching staff in 2008, to winning a National Championship a little under ten years later. I still count many of the players and coaches over the years as some of my best friends, and some of my most abiding memories have been in Orange and Black. “
